This upcoming small group workshop will teach you how to take simple ideas and turn them into fully arranged and produced instrumental songs. This small group class will focus on the creative process rather than the specifics of any one software.
While I’ll be demonstrating in Logic Pro X, the concepts we cover can be applied to any recording software you use. The only requirement is that you have access to a DAW (digital audio workstation) and a MIDI keyboard, so you can fully participate in the hands-on sessions.
We’ll cover everything from selecting the right chords and structuring your tracks to arranging them in a way that complements your playing style. Whether you join live or watch the recording, you’ll leave this workshop with the ability to craft custom backing tracks that elevate your music and song writing.

Expanding a Simple Melody into a Full Song
We’ll start with a basic melody and explore how to build it into a complete instrumental song. You’ll learn how to find complementary chords, develop harmonies, and arrange additional layers to create a rich, dynamic piece of music that retains the essence of your original idea.
Turning a Lick into a Structured Song
Next, we’ll take a simple guitar lick and transform it into a more structured piece. You’ll discover how to expand on that initial spark by adding chord progressions, rhythmic variations, and arranging other parts to create a balanced and fully produced song.
Building from a Simple Chord Progression
Finally, you’ll learn how to take a straightforward chord progression and turn it into a fully arranged track. We’ll focus on creating melodies, adding texture, and using arrangement techniques that make the progression come alive, turning a basic idea into a polished instrumental piece.
